European Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture from 1870 onwards
Established in 1964, Galerie Thomas quickly gained an excellent reputation as international leading gallery for German Expressionism and Classical Modern Art. Looking back at 50 years of gallery work, milestones include the first exhibition of one-hundred works by Alexej Jawlensky, acquiring works from the legendary Rheingarten collection and shows on Klee, Kandinsky, Feininger, Picasso, Ernst, Miró, Soutine, Munich, Kirchner, and just recently on masterworks of the German Expressionism era.
Several years ago Silke and Raimund Thomas opened their second gallery, Galerie Thomas Modern, set in the lively Munich art district.
Masterworks of Pop Art, US Postwar and Abstract American Art are generously displayed on more the 500 sqm lofty gallery space. Besides German postwar art, national and international contemporary artists round off the programme.
Today both galleries, Galerie Thomas and Galerie Thomas Modern are located in one space. Together with Silke and Raimund Thomas, Galerie Thomas is managed by director Heike Grossmann while Galerie Thomas Modern is run by director Joerg Paal.
