Galerie Le Minotaure was created in 2002 by Benoit Sapiro, a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts, vice-president of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art, and president of the Photo Saint Germain festival. It is located on the former site of the famous Surrealist bookshop of the same name. Like its director, the gallery specialises in the artists of the School of Paris and in the avant-gardes of Central and Eastern Europe, from the 1910s to the 1960s.
Its considerable collections have made it a regular collaborator with major museums such as the Russian state museums, including the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.
