Early Meissen and German porcelain

Röbbig München was founded by Gerhard Röbbig in 1972, four years later joined by Alfredo Reyes, who shared the same enthusiasm for courtly European art of the eighteenth century. From the start it has specialized in early German porcelain and select eighteenth-century antiques, which for almost fifty years have been showcased in an array of inviting, specially designed interiors that evoke the aristocratic salons of the grand siècle, both at the company’s headquarters in Munich and when they appear at international art fairs such as TEFAF in Maastricht, HIGHLIGHTS in Munich, Tefaf NY or BRAFA in Brussels. Röbbig has exhibited at TEFAF for twenty-five years without a break. The company has taken its place at the forefront of international trade in early Meissen porcelain.

Following the sudden, premature death of Gerhard Röbbig in 2012, Alfredo Reyes has run the company, aided by a small team of able and discreet experts. With its most recent move to the first floor of Carolinen Palais on Munich’s elegant Brienner Strasse, Röbbig has breathed new life into the tradition of the fine art trade in these historic interiors. Nonetheless, Röbbig regards its role not merely as facilitating the sale and acquisition of art objects, but also as a committed mediator of art and culture by publishing scientifically well-researched catalogues dedicated to the decorative arts of the 18th century and supporting national and international exhibition projects on early Meissen porcelain.
