Description

Gustav Klimt is regarded as one of the most controversial, but at the same time, most popular Austrian artists of the twentieth-century. As the founder of the Vienna Secession, Klimt’s work is nearly unrivaled in its celebration of the female form, both elegantly and erotically. Watch Lui Wienerroither, Co-Owner of Wienerroither & Kohlbacher, describe an intimate Klimt drawing, “Der Pelzkragen.”

Klimt is known for his detailed attention to the lifelike faces of his models, and his interest in Japanese art can be found throughout his life’s work. In fact, a selection of Klimt’s works are on display at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum through 23 July.
