TEFAF NEW YORK SPRING OFFERS FIRST LOOK AT DEBUT FAIR FOCUSING ON MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY

(New York) April 12, 2017– TEFAF New York has released a “first look” at the inaugural TEFAF New York Spring Fair that will take place at the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City from May 4-8, 2017, with the Opening VIP Preview on May 3, 2017. The Fair will feature 92 of the world’s most illustrious dealers who specialize in Modern and Contemporary Art and Design. In addition, a small number of dealers will exhibit jewelry, African & Oceanic art, and antiquities. The inclusion of African & Oceanic works and classical antiquities will cement the coherent aesthetic that is popular among contemporary and modern collectors.

DEALER DEDICATION AND CONNOISSEURSHIP ENSURES VIBRANT MARKETPLACE AT TEFAF MAASTRICHT

TEFAF Maastricht ran from 10-19 March 2017 in the MECC, Maastricht and welcomed over 71,000 visitors, from over 60 nationalities, demonstrating the wide reaching international appeal of the 275 dealers. In a year of significant development for TEFAF, with the addition of two fairs in New York, the unrivalled heart of the organisation, the 30-year-old fair in Maastricht, continued to provide a dynamic sales platform for its exhibitors. Both private and institutional buyers acquired some of the finest works available on the market, with sales reported across all price points and throughout all sections. TEFAF Maastricht continues to be an important event for museums from around the world, with over 200 visiting.

​PRIVATE AND INSTITUTIONAL COLLECTIONS ARE BOLSTERED THROUGH SALES AT TEFAF MAASTRICHT 2017

The tone of TEFAF Maastricht was confident, with top-level sales reported throughout the Fair as well as a healthy appetite for mid-market works. Interest was evident in all sections of the Fair, with numerous pieces of cultural and historical importance being sold or reserved by both private and institutional buyers. TEFAF Maastricht 2017 concludes on Sunday 19th March, at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre).

TEFAF MAASTRICHT SALES DEMONSTRATE VIBRANT MARKETPLACE

 TEFAF Maastricht underlined its position as the world’s leading fine art and antiques Fair with numerous sales reported during the opening days, testament to the strength of the global art market in 2017. Over 10,000 collectors and institutional representatives visited the Fair during preview day, Thursday 9th March, acquiring works for both private and public collections. This is in addition to over 7,000 visitors on the first public day of the Fair, Friday 10th March. TEFAF Maastricht continues at the MECC, Maastricht until Sunday 19th March 2017.

TEFAF MAASTRICHT HOSTS RARE TREASURES IN THE LOAN EXHIBITION ‘GALLERIA BORGHESE – AN ITALIAN LEGACY’

This year, the loan exhibition at TEFAF Maastricht, housed in TEFAF Paper, comes from the renowned Italian museum Galleria Borghese in Rome. Treasures to be exhibited in the exhibition ‘Galleria Borghese – An Italian Legacy’ include a selection of highly significant Italian paintings and sculptures from the 15th-, 16th- and 17th- centuries.  The Galleria Borghese is a lasting tribute to Scipione Borghese (1577-1633), who used his position as Cardinal Nephew to his uncle Pope Paul V (1552-1621), to create one of the richest and most sought after collections of the time. The extraordinary Villa that houses the museum itself is an embodiment of the history and development of Italian collecting between the 17th- and 19th- centuries. TEFAF NEW YORK SPRING ANNOUNCES EXHIBITORS FOR ITS DEBUT FAIR

(New York) February 6, 2017 –  International art fair TEFAF New York Spring has announced the 92 internationally acclaimed exhibitors participating in its debut edition, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art & design. The Fair will take place at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City from May 4-8, 2017, with the Opening VIP Preview on May 3, 2017. The Fair is an expansion of the TEFAF portfolio, adding a new platform for today’s collectors and museums within the context of the TEFAF organization.

DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS, MUSÉE RODIN AND A COMBINATION OF RKD, STEDELIJK MUSEUM, MUSEUM BOIJMANS VAN BEUNINGEN AND GEMEENTEMUSEUM ARE AWARDED THE TEFAF MUSEUM RESTORATION FUND FOR 2017

 The Executive Committee of The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) has awarded €54,000 to three distinct projects, two larger and one smaller, either side of the Atlantic. One is the restoration and reconstruction of the never before seen work by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) entitled Absolution (c.1900) in the Musée Rodin collection, France. The second is the conservation of Judith with the Head of Holofernes (c.1570) by Titian (14881576), which has been on near constant display since entering the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts, USA, in 1938. The final, smaller, project is the conservation of Der Blaue Reiter (1912), a journal edited by Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) and Franz Marc (1880-1916). This 140-page journal includes 34 unnumbered plates (6 in colour and 28 in monochrome), 2 foldouts and 2 pages of musical scores. It was acquired jointly in 2015 by the RKD, Stedelijk Museum, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and Gemeentemuseum, all based in The Netherlands.
