About the Work
Le Linkin, originally a “Bassin de chasse” for hunting waterfowl, is a water basin separated from the sea by locks and walls at the port of the Breton fishing village of Perros-Guirec. Denis and his soon-to-be wife Marthe Meurier first visited Perros-Guirec in 1893 on their honeymoon and subsequently bought Villa Silencio there in 1908 after a number of other family vacations. The present picture is a fine example of his modernity of the early Nabis period.
