Polak Works of Art

Jaap Polak is one of the last remaining generalists. He opened his gallery in 1977.

At Polak Works of Art one will find an eclectic collection from all over the world of every period; European and Oriental works of art, tribal art, Indian miniature paintings, archaeology, sculptures and objets d’art. It also houses an extensive and important archive on Indo-Javanese art, known as The Documentation Centre for Ancient Indonesian Art.
He has participated in TEFAF from the very beginning, alongside other major art fairs such as Oude Kunst en Antiekbeurs Delft, Grosvenor House, Ceramics Fair, Hong Kong and PAN Amsterdam etc. He was the predecessor of Prof. Henk van Os of the Vetting Committee TEFAF and is still associated with other vetting committees. He is a senior expert for the television programme "Tussen Kunst & Kitsch" in excess of 35 years.

Jaap Polak is a member of The Royal Association of Fine Art Dealers in The Netherlands, a member of CINOA, and is a certified member of The Dutch Federation of Appraisers, TMV, in art and antiques. He was knighted by the Dutch Queen Beatrix in 2010 for his voluntary scientific research, his bequests, as well as the pro-deo valuations for several museums worldwide and for his research and scientific work related to Indonesian Art.

Polak Works of Art is situated in a canal house near the Rijksmuseum in the centre of Amsterdam.
