About the Work

Alberto Giacometti’s "Figure", created in the 1930s, is a striking reflection of the artist’s unique imagination, blending archaic influences, references to antiquity, modernity and surrealism. This iconic piece holds a special place in the prestigious collection of Countess Mona Bismarck, a leading figure of 20th-century elegance and refinement. A fashion icon, passionate art patron, major figure in high society Mona was an exceptional collector.

Her taste for art was reflected in the décor of her many sumptuous properties, including a majestic neo-Georgian mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York and a private mansion in Paris, which she adorned with works by classical masters such as Goya and Fragonard and had decorated by the greatest architects and designers of the time, such as Alberto Giacometti.
