Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) and our annual TEFAF Fairs in Maastricht and New York City.

TEFAF will continue to adhere to the Dutch health and safety regulations at all times, and we will take every measure possible to provide a safe environment during our Fairs.

Travel within the European Union and from international destinations such as the U.S. is currently possible, and therefore we are continuing our preparations as usual. It is our aim to re-open our marketplace in Maastricht, however should the situation change, we will respond swiftly.

We fully understand the challenges you are facing in running the business and in your personal life. It forces all of us to improvise and to be flexible. At this moment TEFAF, sincerely hopes that the situation improves in time.

TEFAF stands for: The European Fine Art Foundation.

(Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic) TEFAF conducted two international art fairs each year: TEFAF Maastricht in March and TEFAF New York Spring in May.

While TEFAF Maastricht showcases art from a wide range of collecting categories and time periods, TEFAF New York is more narrowly defined by an art-historical time period. TEFAF New York focuses primarily on modern and contemporary art and design, with ethnographic and ancient art, photography, and jewelry also featured.

Yes, the fair has different locations for catering outlets; such as a self service restaurant, seafood, pastry, and sushi bars, salad, and sandwich bars. The main catering facilities are the Brasserie Fifth Avenue and an A la Carte Restaurant La Concorde. For reservations, please call +31 43 383 8844)
90% of the fair is situated on one floor. However, the section Works on Paper is upstairs which is easy accessible through 2 available elevators.
If you are invited as a Collector by one of TEFAF’s exhibitors, the Collectors Portal provides online access to your Preview Invitations and ticket. As a TEFAF Collector, you will enjoy early access to the Fair, special cultural programming events and have the option to join exclusive tours to preeminent institutions and exhibitions.

Collector invitations are available at the discretion of our exhibitors and sponsors.

You will be directed to a confirmation page upon the processing of your application and non-refundable application fee payment. The status of your application will also update under the “Available Applications” section of your Exhibitor Portal from “Draft” to “Submitted”.
You may add to or edit your application after it has been submitted up until the application due date. After this time, your responses will be locked and reviewed as-is by the Selection Committee.
After your non-refundable application fee payment is processed, you will be directed to a confirmation page noting your payment total, payment date, and invoice number. You may print this page for your records. A downloadable copy of your receipt is accessible via the “Available Applications” section within the Overview page of your Exhibitor Portal.

Application decisions are typically released 4-6 weeks after the application due date, however review periods may vary by Fair and year-to-year.

Once decisions are made, your application status will be updated in your Exhibitor Portal. The Primary Contact and Gallery Owner(s) indicated on your application will be notified of this status update by email. Your Portal account must be linked to an active application in order to view its decision status.
