VENETIAN HERITAGE FOR THE CA’ D’ORO MUSEUM
A SPECIAL TEFAF EXHIBITION
TEFAF Maastricht 2024 is delighted to partner with Venetian Heritage, the distinguished international non-profit foundation that supports cultural projects through conservation, exhibitions, publications, conferences, academic study, and research. Under the tutelage of Venetian Heritage Director Toto Bergamo Rossi, its Chairman and President in New York, Peter Marino, and its President in Venice, Valentina Nasi, TEFAF's loan exhibition, Venetian Heritage for the Ca' d'Oro Museum, aims to promote the museum's permanent collection and its restoration and renovation project. For TEFAF, the museum has handpicked three artworks representing its rich and diverse collections at the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro. These pieces include the iconic Double Portrait in marble by Tullio Lombardo, a magnificent bronze relief by Riccio depicting Saint Martin's Charity, and a precious small panel by Jan van Eyck and his workshop depicting the Crucifixion.
Venetian Heritage is dedicated to raising awareness about the rich legacy of Venetian art in Italy and other areas that were once part of the Republic of Venice. Since 1999, they have been committed to preserving significant Venetian art masterpieces and supporting several national museums. Over the past decade, they have expanded their efforts through various projects, such as the renovation of the Palazzo Grimani Museum and the ongoing restoration and restyling of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro, one of the most prestigious late Gothic palaces in Venice that houses the important art collection of Baron Giorgio Franchetti. These interventions have helped preserve significant works of art and expanded and supported Venetian national museums.
Venetian Heritage and Fondazione Giulio e Giovanna Sacchetti are collaborating with the Italian Ministry of Culture to fund significant renovation at Ca’ d’Oro. The aim is to improve and update the museum, making it a more dynamic and contemporary space.
The operation is entirely in keeping with the efforts to conserve and make the most of the national artistic heritage and constitutes an example of effective collaboration between the public and private spheres, involving both the Direzione regionale Musei Veneto/Italian Ministry of Culture and Venetian Heritage.
