TEFAF New York, which launched in early 2016, encapsulates modern and contemporary art, jewelry, antiques, and design, and features 91 distinguished galleries from around the world.

The TEFAF x Bank of America Partnership this year features two exciting programs at the armory:

Art in Our Communities at TEFAF New York

At TEFAF New York this year, Bank of America will present Modern Women/Modern Vision, as part of their “Art in Our Communities” program. This presentation will feature works by some of the leading artists of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, including Imogen Cunningham, Margaret Bourke-White, Eva Besnyö, and Barbara Morgan, all influential Modernist photographers. Since photography’s inception in the mid-nineteenth century, women have stood among its artistic and technological pioneers, at the forefront of every photographic movement and style. The presentation is organized into six thematic sections, chronicling the trailblazing technical and artistic contributions of the artists who worked during each era.

The presentation exemplifies Bank of America’s Art in Our Communities® program, which allows museums and nonprofit galleries to borrow, at no cost, complete exhibitions curated from the Bank of America Art Collection. The program offers local institutions the opportunity to generate revenue while providing the public an opportunity to experience important works of art. Since 2009, more than 170 exhibitions have been loaned worldwide.

Art and Succession—Collections and the Next Collector

Carefully assembled over time, art collections can endure long past the visionary who started them. Spouses, the next generation, or museums may become recipients of collections, carrying on the legacy of the original collector while simultaneously leaving their own mark on its present composition and future course. Join us for a discussion about how “next collectors” can shape art collections and hear insights they gained as they navigated the opportunities and challenges in stewarding a collection that someone else started.
