TEFAF Appoints Maarten ten Holder as Managing Director
TEFAF has announced the appointment of Maarten ten Holder as Managing Director, effective June 8, 2026. With this appointment, Interim Managing Director Eltje de Klerk will conclude her interim role.
A Dutch citizen with a global focus, Ten Holder brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the high-end international art market and luxury sector. He is recognized for driving complex international operations, spearheading strategic growth, and designing client‑centric platforms across auctions, advisory services, and luxury categories.

Ten Holder most recently served as CEO, Americas, at Gurr Johns, overseeing U.S. operations.
From 2021 to 2024, he was an Executive Vice President and the Managing Director at Bonhams|Cars, where he doubled global auction sales, launched a 24/7 online platform, oversaw the division’s rebrand, expanded international auctions, and established new partnerships with various automotive partners. From 2018 to 2021, he held senior roles at RM Sotheby’s, as Executive Vice President, Head of the European Office, and Chief Auctioneer. He grew the firm’s European presence, initiated its first Middle East auction during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and advanced its digital auction strategy.
Before that, Ten Holder spent more than 20 years at Sotheby’s, holding executive leadership positions in New York, London, Milan, and Amsterdam. He holds an MA in History from the University of Amsterdam and began his career in Sotheby’s Amsterdam Clocks & Watches department. As Executive Vice President and Managing Director across multiple regions, he managed multi‑billion‑dollar businesses, oversaw more than 200 auctions annually, and led global office expansions. His tenure included creating new collecting categories, assembling senior leadership teams, and developing Sotheby’s luxury initiatives, including Luxury Week New York, which united jewelry, watches, wine, fashion, and automobiles under one platform.
Appointments to the TEFAF Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, effective March 2026
Jonathan Green – New Executive Committee Member
Jonathan Green brings over four decades of experience in the international art market and is a leading specialist in European paintings, spanning Old Masters through Impressionist and modern works. He has served on TEFAF’s selection committee since 2016, contributing to the rigorous vetting of dealers and artworks, and has been a member of the fair’s board since 2012, helping guide its strategic development.
As CEO of Richard Green Fine Paintings since the early 2000s, he oversees the acquisition and sale of important paintings and sculptures from the 17th to the 21st century. Jonathan has also participated in vetting committees for more than 20 years, including Grosvenor House Art & Antiques Fair, Biennale des Antiquaires, and the Haughton International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show, assessing authenticity, condition, and overall quality. He began his career in the early 1980s with cataloguing roles at Sotheby’s and Christie’s, building a lifelong foundation in connoisseurship and scholarship.
Laura Kugel – New Executive Committee Member
Laura Kugel represents the sixth generation of the family behind Galerie Kugel in Paris, a long-standing TEFAF exhibitor renowned for its expertise spanning from Renaissance works of art to 18th-century decorative arts. She has been a member of TEFAF’s organizing committee since 2020.
Galerie Kugel showcases a wide range of specialties, displayed in the historic Hôtel Collot inaugurated in 2004. The majority of the works presented by the gallery come directly from private collections, with the “Kugel provenance” recognized as a mark of authenticity and rarity. Together with her family, Laura guides collectors in building and enhancing their collections, supported by a team of art historians and an extensive library of over 20,000 reference books, which has led to frequent rediscoveries of exceptional pieces.
Bob Albricht – New Board of Trustees Member
Bob Albricht is the owner and director of Kunstgalerij Albricht in Oosterbeek, the Netherlands, a gallery specializing in 19th- and early 20th-century Dutch and French paintings. Since joining the family business in 1997, he has continued its long-standing tradition while developing a particular focus on Impressionist and Classical Modern artists, including Isaac Israels, Kees van Dongen, Piet Mondrian, and Jan Sluijters.
Under his leadership, the gallery has placed important works in renowned institutions such as the Van Gogh Museum and the Musée d’Orsay. Bob is a certified appraiser with the Federation TMV, a member of KVHOK, and has served on the Supervisory Board of PAN Amsterdam since 2020.
Kunstgalerij Albricht is a regular participant at leading international art fairs, including TEFAF Maastricht, PAN Amsterdam, and the Treasure House Fair in London, reflecting the gallery’s enduring reputation and commitment to excellence in the international art market.
Ollivier Chenel – New Board of Trustees Member
Ollivier Chenel is a distinguished antiquities expert and co-founder of Galerie Chenel in Paris, specializing in rare and exceptional ancient objects. Raised in Nice by a father who dealt in Art Deco furniture, he developed an early fascination for antiquities that led him to open his first gallery with his wife, Gladys, in 1999, later joined by his brother Adrien in 2005.
Over more than three decades, Chenel has built a reputation for his discerning eye and passion for discovering remarkable “coup de cœur” pieces, from first-century relics to Egyptian sculptures. Under his leadership, Galerie Chenel has become a trusted destination for collectors and museums, valued for its deep appreciation of history, artistry, and the cultural narratives carried by each artifact.
