Museum-quality artworks with a specialization in Old Master paintings

Nicholas Hall is a private gallery in New York with more than 40 years of experience in sourcing and selling some of the finest Old Master paintings, sculpture, and drawings on the market. The gallery deals in museum-quality works by European artists from the 13th to mid-20th century and has sold to a wide variety of private collectors and public institutions worldwide, ranging from the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles to the Qatar Museum in Doha. Since opening at its 76th Street location in 2016, the gallery has been known for its exceptional exhibition program with leading scholar contributions and museum loans. Before founding his eponymous gallery, Hall was the International Chairman of the Old Master and 19th century departments at Christie's. His first gallery, Hall & Knight Ltd., was acquired by Christie’s in 2004. During his 12-year tenure at Christie’s, he was notably responsible for the private sale of Stoclet Madonna by Duccio to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Hall was educated at the University of Oxford and took his first position in the art world in 1979 at Colnagni on Bond Street. He has lived in New York since 1983.
