This conversation brings together Max Hollein, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with Josh Spero, Wealth Editor of the Financial Times, in a forward-looking discussion on the evolving role of museums in the 21st century. Since his appointment as Director in 2018 and Chief Executive Officer in 2023, Hollein has guided The MET’s artistic vision, curatorial direction, programming, and institutional priorities, along with overseeing more than 100 exhibitions, major capital projects, and expanded public engagement initiatives across the Museum’s encyclopedic collections.
Together they will consider what it means to rethink museum narratives, embrace diverse perspectives, and balance tradition with innovation. Their conversation will reflect on how The MET is navigating these dynamic pressures and opportunities as it continues to define its relevance, accessibility, and mission for the future.
