About the Work

This rare pair of stools features the Eiffel Tower motif, which Jean Royère arrived at after incessant research into new combinations. A combination of the lattice and the ball, it first appeared in 1939. The definitive version was the coffee table and floor lamp presented in 1947 at the ‘La Résidence française’ exhibition organised by Waldemar George at the Pierre Maurs gallery.

Provenance

Important collection of Jean Royère, begun in 1948 through Nadim Majdalani,
at the occasion of a special order for a complete set, and completed over the years including during Parisian trips.
- thence by descent
