About the Work

This drawing comes from the first abstract series of works by Victor Vasarely. The Belle-Isle period (1947-1958) which is named after the island in Brittany allows the transformation of a raw natural material into an abstract material. It also marks a return to nature through the use of geometric shapes, in particular the ovoid shape, which signifies “the oceanic feeling.”.
