About the Work

This silver chalice was Lalique very first attempt to produce an item in a small series. After his succes at the 1900 Paris World Fair he wanted to produce modern luxury items for his growing affluent clientèle. The chalice has the same design as his living quarters at the river Seine in Paris; the pommes the pins.

These Pins symbolises his creative source, laying deep in the forests of his youth.
