About the Work

Robert Henri Schneider wanted to renew his family's glass business after World War II. His father Charles Schneider was designing colored glass in the Art Deco period of the twenties and thirties. Robert Henri decided now to work in clear cristal instead.

He designed free formed blown brutalist unique pieces in his new glass atelier in Epinay sur Seine close to Paris. It opened shortly after the War in 1949 but due to a Gas explosion in 1957 the atelier was only shortlived. Therefore these brutalist pieces are very sought after.
