About the Work

This is one of the most famous Hasui’s prints and sought after by collectors, here in perfect printing and condition.

On the right margin, the rectangular seal of the publisher, Watanabe Shôzaburô, is that of the first impression.

The print was very successful, to the point of becoming one of the best known of the Shin-Hanga, but gave rise to several reprints, the publisher's stamp changing with the editions.

In this first edition, there is a slight relief on part of the umbrella, which will then disappear, in order to simplify the work of the printer. Shadows and color gradients will also be simplified in subsequent prints.
