About the Work

Signed and dated lower right

By 1964, Imai had 14 solo exhibitions across France, Italy, and Japan and took part in more than 25 group exhibitions, firmly establishing his international reputation.

Created that same year, this work on paper is a striking testament to Toshimitsu Imai's creativity and mastery of calligraphy, expressed through bold, flamboyant colors. By leaving space around the composition, Imai enhances the evocative power of the piece.
