About the Work

Bronze sculpture of a man riding a mythical beast.

The rider is shown facing forward, his arms are spread out, with an object in each hand : a goblet in his right hand and a large dish with an attached goblet in his left.

His hair is gathered on top of the head to form a circular platform which supports the vertical element of the headgear.

He wears a tunic which reaches to his knees, exposing his lower legs and boot clad feet.

His mount, standing squarely on all four hooves, looks rather like a member of the horse family, with short rounded muzzle, lower lip emphasized by a goatee beard, the central vertical horn indicates that this is supposed to be a mythical beast.
