Overview

Rayan Sullivan’s shift from expansive canvases to works on paper signals a deliberate and thoughtful exploration of intimacy, material presence, and restraint. In Untitled (2024), Sullivan engages with paper not as a neutral support but as an active surface. Through Sullivan’s sensitivity to the alchemy between gesture and spontaneity, he experiments in transforming the medium.

This body of work offers a timely and unique response to growing research for authenticity and material depth in contemporary collecting. Accessible in scale, these conceptually rigorous pieces offer the perfect entry point into collecting for emerging collectors.

TEFAF Meet the Experts programs celebrate the expertise of our world-renowned exhibitors, spotlighting exceptional objects and the stories they tell across categories and 7,000 years of history. As part of the Emerging Collector Program, this session serves as a platform for dialogue between a new generation of collectors and TEFAF’s exhibitor community. By focusing on a singular object, the program offers an opportunity to learn about the nuances of collecting.
