About the Work

Elegant desk inkwell set on a refined shaped base of veined green marble, framed by a richly chased gilt-bronze mount. The surface features a carefully articulated ensemble of functional and decorative elements: two cylindrical lidded containers, a pen holder in the form of a small column, and a rectangular box—probably intended for pounce or seals—adorned with gilt-bronze star motifs.
