Auguste Rodin : Eve’s despair after the fall of man
John Swarbrooke from Dickinson Gallery explains the beauty and play of light behind the cast of Auguste Rodin’s Eve.
Copied!
Established in 1993, Dickinson has become a world leader in the international art market with an unrivalled reputation for quality and discretion. As pioneers in the market for private treaty sales with galleries in London and New York, we specialise in providing an alternative to buying and selling at auction.
Tefaf Maastricht 2020 marked Dickinson’s 22nd year at the fair and as always we sought to continue our reputation for presenting a broad range of high-quality Old Masters through Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary works. This year’s impressive group was led by Vincent van Gogh’s July 1885 landscape ‘Paysanne devant une Chaumière’ (Peasant Woman in front of a Farmhouse), one of the finest and largest examples from the artist’s Dutch period, alongside Giovanni Paolo Panini’s masterpiece ‘Rome, the Pantheon, a view of the Interior’ (1734) and a lifetime cast of Rodin’s ‘Petite Eve’, among other highlights.
