About the Work

Bloem is a major work created by celebrated Australian jewellery designer Margot McKinney. The collier features eight significant tourmalines including a gem of 65.85ct at its centre, along with an impressive collection of twenty-seven large Australian South Sea baroque pearls. The twenty-six pearls in the collier’s double strands each measure 15-20mm, while a single, particularly rare example measuring 21 x 32mm is placed as the focal point beneath the hero tourmalines. Bloem is completed with white diamonds, brown diamonds, blue, pink and purple sapphires, pink tourmalines, amethysts and rubellites.

Bloem is the Dutch word for “flower,” and is the designer’s homage to the opulent floral traditions of the Netherlands. The piece is an enchanting testament to Margot McKinney’s dedication to sourcing the world’s finest gems and pearls in order to create designs that push the boundaries of what is possible in the art of high jewellery.
