About the Work

Francesca Baldassari, Gianni Papi and Yuri Primarosa have each submitted an extensive authentication report on the present painting, which, since its discovery in 2015, has been requested for four monographic exhibitions and two shows on women artists.

Other than the 2016-17 Palazzo Braschi, Rome exhibition curated by Nicola Spinosa & Francesca Baldassari, and the 2023-24 Palazzo Ducale Genoa exhibition, curated by Costantino D’Orazio & Anna Orlando (see under ‘Exhibited’), the present painting was also requested for the 2025 Musée Jacquemart-André show on Artemisia, curated by Patrizia Cavazzini and Maria Cristina Terzaghi, but the owner declined this latest application. A new request to loan to the present painting to the Artemisia Gentileschi exhibition, planned at the Museo degli Innocenti, Florence October 2026 to February 2027, has just arrived.

Requests from curators Katrin Dyballa (Bucerius Kunst Forum, Hamburg) and Bodo Brinkmann (Kunstmuseum, Basel) for the Geniale Frauen. Künstlerinnen und ihre Weggefährten exhibition held consecutively in Hamburg & Basel in 2024 had to be declined due to simultaneity with the Genoa monographic show.
